Initial Health & Safety Meeting

Present: Joe, Steph, Will P, Jules Lediard (SU H&S Manager)

General Points

  • Received copies of: NT Health & Safety Policy, NT Show Risk Assessment Form & Workshop Training Record Form from last year. Electronic copies to come.
  • Each production needs to complete risk assessment. Should be director & producer to fill out but probably want/need help from Committee / someone familiar with risk assessments.
  • JAMES: First aid kits need replenishing (free) and fixed around the theatre. (I think we have 5… somewhere) JESS (edit)- was one in workshop, box office, dressing room and tech box BUT all disappeared and the one we had was given in but the SU said we didn't.
  • We need to inform Melanie Wormall in SU Admin if we rent in anything of value so that temporary insurance can be set up
  • Risk assessments need writing/rewriting. Liz/Steph - workshop. Jess/Will - tech. Jules politely noted that a tech risk assessment did not exist for last year. We can go to her for help with this. JESS (edit)-Started one, will arrange a meeting with Jules to go over it
  • Jules has offered to help us do more training (like the first aid course).
    • Mentioned ladder safety, this would be a very good one to do for committee! Knowledge on the subject may be a bit dodgy at the moment. Course approx. 40 minutes, just need some space and some ladders. Would help us give better training. JESS (edit)-I AGREE!

Emergency Procedures

  • Need to have a walk around the theatre with Jules to establish an evacuation procedure. (Obvs as the building has changed, more rooms etc).
    • Suggested changing SL wing fire exit to SR double doored corridor. (Makes way more sense)
  • Suggested having 'fire tokens' in 'zones' such that every part of the theatre is checked in case of fire alarm. (eg. Auditorium is cleared, but someone could be trapped in the rehearsal room)
  • Accident book? Needs finding or we need a new one. Procedure for reporting accidents explained (write information down, then pass onto Jules) JESS(edit)-Was in the office, had all major incidents in there but separate sheet was never given in,

Technical

  • WILL P: Kit needs to be inventoried and that list passed back to the SU.
  • PAT Testing :)
    • Locating PAT testing records (tech store PC)
