VPT (Video Projection Tool) a 'projection powerpack'.
VPT is a free multipurpose realtime projection software tool for Mac and Windows. Among other things it can be used for projecting video on complex forms, adapt a projection to a particular space/surface, combine recorded and live footage, for multiscreen HD playback, for interactive installations using arduino sensors or camera tracking ++ VPT has become a popular tool for theatre and installation use, but is also used by VJs.
“The main VPT console has become more compact, and consists of a tab (1) which lets you switch between the different sections, the main area(2) where the different sections appear, the preset section (3) which is always visible and the VPT bar (4) which controls output, preview and navigator settings.”

Say we have a projector covering an area of stage. There is no 'screen' as such. We can, through this software, 'pick out' shapes on stage to use as independent mini-screens to display content on (picture, video or just colour).
Here's a nice example using boxes. Each box side is a 'layer' in VPT and can display different video sources.
